Carol Sams has been a very successful teacher of singing throughout her career. For years she struggled with finding suitable and affordable pieces for her beginning and intermediate voice students. Over time, Carol accumulated a collection of her own arrangements and original compositions. These are targeted at keeping the cost to students low and providing a wide variety of styles.

The pieces are intentionally accessible for even the least experienced singers. The included piano accompaniments are suitable for playing by voice teachers with moderate piano skills. These songs are a great way for a singer to get started at solo singing. In fact, the songs have become lasting favorites of the singers.

The book has been used for individual instruction as well as class voice. Many voice instructors even use Classic Songs for Young Singers for all of their students.

The CD shipped with the book has recordings of many of the songs, so that the student can get a "quick start" at learning. This is particularly useful when the student has little or no experience reading music.
